For your initial response: determine the Audience, Purpose and Occasion for the following video, and then note whether or not Kutcher uses ethos, logos and pathos in his speech, and how he uses the elements you identify. Finally, say whether or not you think he was effective in his speech, and why (ex. how did he format his speech to help build his logos or ethos? How could he have better formatted his speech and why?).
In your reply: ask your classmate a question about his/her post regarding his/her thought-process regarding one or more of the determinations he/she makes (ex. "Do you really think his audience was the people sitting at the Teen Choice Awards or were they the people sitting at home?).
First Kutcher deals with emotions. He shows his emotions through his since of humor in which he collorborates into revealing his real name. He say his real name is Chris in a jokingly manner, in doing so he creates that ethos with the audience. Kuther is know for his sense of humor from most of the character's roles that he plays that expresses his pathos through out this speech.
ReplyDeleteKutcher uses logos by give the audience his accredited sucess tools that made him a successful star. He credited his opportunity, his sexiness, and his ability to build his life not just live in one.
He even references "the geriatric home", which is a home for elderly people, that is renouned known by most of society, so this is a use of logos and pathos because is also used this to say he is now officially old and that show is emotions about the award that he feels is an "old guy award."
This was an effective speech. I think it was effective because it explained three good points to an audience of mostly younger gender that you must work hard, don't quite , smart is sexier than actually being sexy, and building your life is a much more than just living life.
